Kia ora, fakaalofa lahi atu,
Deepest Sympathy to all of Eddie's family.
Organizations will always be built from the groundwork that those that first founded them contributed to, and Eddie Erick was one of those people. A founding memebr of the Auckland Association and of New Zealand Men's and Mixed, both benefitted hugely from Eddie's passion and work.
Endless hours spent coaching, playing, managing, and umpiring showed the depth of his passion, and he was already ready with a team for Men's and Mixed nationals. For Eddie, winning wasn't always the most important goal, it was about taking part and getting new players to take part and enjoy the sport he loved. He was always willing and ready to take the court or grab a whistle if needed.
Eddie went about his work in a quiet and humble way, always in the background but ever present. His contribution to Men's and Mixed Netball was outstanding. A member of the NZMMNA Board for many years, he went about these duties in the same manner, quietly and actively avoiding the spotlight.
Eddie was one of the two people who were instrumental in taking NZMMNA back into a closer partnership with our closest friends, the Australian Men's and Mixed Netball Association and we have never looked back.
Eddie, you have been an outstanding servant of Men's and Mixed Netball. We mourn your passing and will miss you dearly.
Our deepest sympathy to Awhina and all of Eddie's wider fanau and friends.
Thank You Eddie.
